If any customer has a complaint against a bank for non-payment or inordinate delay in the payment or collection of cheques, they can lodge a complaint with the bank concerned. If the bank doesn't respond within 30 days, they can complain to the Banking Ombudsman.

There are several reasons that could cause problems in cheque processing and lead to cheque bouncing. But not all of them warrant legal action. For example, a cheque could bounce if the sign of the drawer does not match with the account.

A detailed list of these reasons has been provided by the Reserve Bank of India in Annexure D of the Uniform Regulation and Rules for Bankers Clearing Houses.

I have deposited my post office cheque for 10k at Union bank of India, Alandur branch on 7th Oct’25 and got debited on 9th from post office. But i have still not got credit in my accout. My star health insurance was due on 10th Oct and got elapsed.
What should i do now and whom will be responsible if any bad happens.
