Government of Andhra Pradesh provides financial relief to the victims of atrocities i.e., Rape, Gang Rape, Dowry Death, Kidnap, Trafficking, Acid Attack, Hacked or throat Slit etc. through WD&CW Dept. The financial assistance for each case is as follows

• Rape Case Rs. 50,000/-
• Dowry Death Rs. 50,000/-
• Trafficking Rs. 20,000/-
• Kidnap Rs. 20,000/-
• Acid Attacks Rs.1,00,000/-
• Hacked or Throat Slit Rs.50,000/-

Institutions are being run under the scheme viz., Service Homes, State Homes, Rescue Homes, Working Women (WW) Hostel, Old Age Home and Home for Collegiate Girls

Rescue Home

The rescue home was sanctioned under S.I.T.A. Act, (Suppression of Immoral Traffic Act) to accommodate women who are rescued by the Police and are facing trial in the court and are given shelter during the trial period. At present the Rescue Home is functioning at Kukatpally, Hyderabad with a sanctioned strength of 30 inmates. During their stay, they are provided free shelter, food, clothing, medical care and training in skill development

Service Homes

These homes have a sanctioned capacity of 50 to 150 women and 25 to 60 children. The main aim of the scheme is to provide rehabilitation to socially and economically deprived categories of women in the age group of 18-45 years. They are provided free food, shelter and clothing and allowed stay for a period of 3 years. During this period the inmates are given formal education and necessary skill training in various trades to establish their self-employment units

State Homes

These homes have a sanctioned capacity of 75 women and 25 children each. These homes are meant for Women discharged from Correctional Institutions and Women in distress. They are provided free food, shelter and clothing and allowed to stay for a period of 3 years. During their stay formal education and employment oriented training is imparted. Most of the candidates are referred by the Police Department under various cases like child marriage, rape, kidnapping etc

Working Women’s Hostels

There are16 Working Women Hostels functioning in the State. These hostels are self- reliant and managed on a co-operative basis and provide food, shelter and other facilities including security to the middle class working women on payment of the charges prescribed by the Government. The sanctioned strength of WW hostels vary from 45 to 80 inmates

Old age Homes for Women

The Department is having two Homes functioning in the State, one at Hyderabad and Chittoor. These Homes provide peaceful and comfortable living for the Old destitute Women of above 60 years of age with food, shelter and clothing. Sanctioned strength of these Homes is 30 each. Women above 60 years are given free shelter, food, and clothing for their entire life span

Homes for Collegiate Girls

There are 6 homes functioning in the State at Vizianagaram, Tanuku, Guntur, Tirupati, Warangal and Hyderabad. The intake capacity of these homes range from 30-60. The inmates of Children Homes in the age group of 15 to20 years who have passed 10th class are given admission to pursue their higher studies, and allowed to stay for a maximum period of 5 years. During this period they are provided free shelter, food, books and clothing.

IGMSY is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme, approved by the GOI in October, 2010, under which the grant-in-aid is released to States and Union Territories. It is a conditional cash transfer scheme to be piloted initially in 52 districts across the country. The Scheme is implemented using the platform of ICDS. In Telangana, the scheme is being implemented in the selected districts of West Godavari and Nalgonda

Objectives of IGMSY

To improve the health and nutrition status of Pregnant and Lactating (P & L) women and their young infants by

1. Promoting appropriate practices, care and service utilization during pregnancy, safe delivery and lactation
2. Encouraging women to follow (optimal) Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practices including early and exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months

iii. Contributing to better enabling environment by providing cash incentives for improved health and nutrition to pregnant and lactating women

Target Beneficiaries

1. Pregnant & Lactating women of 19 years of age and above for their first 2 live births

• The legal age of marriage in India for women is 18 years and hence the age criterion for child birth has been taken as 19 years. This is to encourage marriage and child birth at the right age
• To ensure that the health of the woman is not compromised due to repeated pregnancies and to promote family planning

1. All Government/Public Sector Undertakings (Central & State) employees are excluded from the Scheme as they are entitled for paid maternity leave. The wives of such employees are also excluded from the Scheme

The Ministry of W&CD, New Delhi formulated UJJWALA-a Comprehensive Scheme for Prevention of Trafficking, Rescue, Rehabilitation and Reintegration of Victims of Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation. This Scheme provides food, shelter, clothing, counseling and legal aid to the inmates of Ujjwala Homes.

The State Government introduced Arogya Laxmi Programme which involves spot feeding of “one full meal” for Pregnant and Lactating women at the Anganwadi centre along with administration of Iron & Folic Acid (IFA) tablets. The programme was started on 01.01.2013 in ICDS Projects with most adverse health and nutrition indicators

The one full meal consists of Rice, Dal with leafy Vegetables/sambar, vegetables for a minimum of 25 days, boiled egg and 200 ml milk for 30 days in a month. The one full meal will meet 40-45% of the daily calorie and 40-45% of protein and calcium requirement per day of the pregnant and lactating mothers. Along with the meal, Iron Folic Acid (IFA) tablet is to be administered. 

For children between 7 months to 3 years are providing 16 Eggs per month whereas children from 3-6 years were providing 30 Eggs per month

Objectives of “Arogya Laxmi programme”

• Enhance the quality and acceptability of supplementary nutrition by the Pregnant and Lactating women
• Ensure food supplied is consumed by only the Pregnant and Lactating women rather than the whole family
• Ensure that Pregnant and Lactating women consume 90+ IFAtablets.
• Improve the enrollment of mothers at AnganwadiCenters (AWCs).
• Eliminate or decrease the number of Pregnant and Lactating women with anaemia/ who are undernourished.
• Reduce the incidence of low birth babies and malnutrition among children.
• Ensure that Pregnant and Lactating women receive health check ups and immunization.

The Scheme applies to all girl children born on or after 1st May, 2013 in economically backward households and is limited to first two children in the household. The main objectives of this scheme are to enhance the social status of the girl child, delay age of marriage, ensure registration of birth and immunization and enrolment for better nutrition and improving the girl’s educational standards.

The ‘Bangaru Talli’ scheme seeks to achieve these objectives by cash transfer on fulfilling the conditions of institutional deliveries, birth registration, complete immunization, enrolment in Anganwadis and education upto graduation.
