Who is a Marriage Officer?

A marriage officer is a person appointed by the State Government after notification in the Official Gazette. The main duty of a marriage officer is to facilitate the registration and provide the certificate of marriage to the parties.(( Section 3, The Special Marriage Act, 1954.))

Can a minister of marriage under act approved worship centre be call a marriage registrar or marriage officer

Section 5 of the Indian Christian Marriage Act provides that marriages can be solemnized by a minister of religion or a marriage registrar. The former is authorised by the worship centre (for example, the priest of a Church) while the latter is appointed by the government. The term marriage officer is used not in this Act but the Special Marriage Act. It refers to a person appointed by the government to solemnize and register marriages

Hi, I am a trained Christian Pastor. My church is not registered. I have around 6 small groups in different states of India. I want to become a marriage officer in order to conduct marriages in my respective groups. What are my options? Please guide how do I become a marriage officer.
