For conducting any abortion, it is necessary that the pregnant woman agrees to abort the child and gives her permission to discontinue the pregnancy. Only if the pregnant woman is below eighteen years, the written consent of her guardian is necessary for conducting the abortion.
A woman above the age of eighteen years has the right to get an abortion without the consent of anyone else including her parents, spouse, etc. She has not committed any crime if the abortion was performed with her consent, by an authorised doctor in a government-approved centre.
