Hi,
This is to request an explainer on the laws surrounding religious property control in India.
Swarajya Magazine had made this graphic which is often circulated, based on this story: https://swarajyamag.com/magazine/great-hypocrisy-of-secular-indian-state-it-controls-only-temples-we-must-take-them-back
Apparently, Indian laws have significantly different thresholds for state control of religious institutions for Hindu vs for minority places of worship.
This a topic which, if Googled, yields predominantly right-wing results, including articles written by Swamis who have a direct stake in the matter. I’d like to know more about the topic on its own merit and i think a Nyaaya article would be a public service here. I suspect there is misinformation at play. But even if there is not, it seems a pressing legal matter for Indian secularism.
