Under the law, ordinarily, only those lawyers1 are empanelled for legal aid services who have at least 3 years of experience practising law. Further, the competence, suitability, integrity and experience of lawyers are taken into consideration while being assigned to legal aid cases. These lawyers are also trained periodically to ensure that they are suitably qualified.
