Yes, Muslim marriage is a contract under the law. Laws for all the other religions such as Hindu law, Parsi law etc. are not contracts under the law, but they are performed through religious ceremonies. For example, if you are marrying under Hindu law, then you have to follow the religious ceremony of saptapadi. This is not the case in a Muslim marriage as a proposal of marriage is made by or on behalf of one of the parties and is accepted by the other party.
